CSR as a Driver of Organizational Sustainability: Insights from a Thematic Review

Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has emerged as a key mechanism for promoting organizational sustainability, as it enables companies to address social, environmental, and ethical concerns while maintaining long-term performance. This study presents a thematic literature review examining the relationship between CSR and organizational sustainability. Relevant literature was identified through systematic searches in academic databases including Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect, using keywords such as corporate social responsibility, organizational sustainability, CSR initiatives, and sustainable business practices. Selected studies were analyzed using thematic analysis, which revealed five dominant themes: strategic integration of CSR, stakeholder engagement, ethical and responsible business practices, innovation and sustainable solutions, and enhancing organizational reputation and resilience. Findings indicate that CSR supports sustainability by aligning corporate strategy with social and environmental goals, fostering collaboration with stakeholders, promoting ethical conduct, encouraging innovation, and strengthening organizational resilience. This review highlights CSR as a critical enabler of sustainable organizational practices and provides directions for future research on implementing effective CSR strategies in diverse organizational contexts.
