Abstract

Leadership plays a critical role in driving organizational sustainability by shaping culture, influencing employee behaviors, and embedding ethical and strategic practices within organizations. This study presents a thematic literature review examining the relationship between leadership and organizational sustainability. Relevant literature was identified through systematic searches in major academic databases using keywords such as leadership, sustainable leadership, ethical leadership, and organizational sustainability. Selected studies were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns and conceptual linkages. The review revealed three dominant themes: sustainable and transformational leadership, ethical and responsible decision-making, and fostering employee engagement and participation in sustainability initiatives. Findings indicate that leaders who integrate sustainability into strategic decision-making, model ethical behaviors, and actively engage employees are more effective in achieving long-term sustainability outcomes. The study highlights the interconnected role of leadership, ethics, and human capital in promoting sustainable organizational practices and provides directions for future research on leadership strategies that support sustainability in diverse organizational contexts.
